Milestone billing requires the client to be billed when they have approved a predetermined phase of a project or deliverable is complete, and not a scheduled recurring interval. Since milestone billing is prevalent in large fixed price contracts and EPC it means delays in payment are a consequence of milestone slippage or disputes.
