Project governance, or portfolio governance, provides the framework of roles, rights to make decisions, and authorizations needed for governing, escalating, and accounting for projects and portfolio in an organization. With no such structures even fully resourced projects are at the risk of aimless wanderings, since no one has a formal mandate on what to pick up as the final choice when the choices come out to collide with one another.
